This glittering arctic world was nothing more than just that less than one hundred years ago. Today, it is a thriving society, but it hasn’t lost touch with the wilderness from which is sprang forth. Anchorage is an understated winter paradise.
You’re never far away from some wonder of the arctic wild in Anchorage, whether it be a glistening iceberg or a whale off the coast, a big bear coming in for a closer sniff at your car, or a family of moose enjoying an afternoon stroll, you’ll see it all right outside the city limits (or sometimes inside!)
If you time your visit just right and come in winter, you may even be able to witness the famed Northern Lights.
If you miss these, winter still has much and more to offer visitors to Alaska. Everything from dog mushing, snowmobiling and skiing to attending festivals.
This arctic wonderland has much to offer the interested tourist.
Should Patricia Skeriotis and her dog Myko make this their vacation?
